The Claremont Journal of Law and Public Policy (CJLPP) is an undergraduate journal published by students of The Claremont Colleges (Pomona College, Scripps College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, and Pitzer College). Student writers and editors collaborate year-round to produce substantive legal and policy analyses that are accessible to audiences around the world. Together, we foster a community of curious students, writers, editors, and readers who are passionately engaged in learning and debating about the critical issues of our time.

Founded in 2013 as the Claremont Law Journal, CJLPP was later renamed to reflect the breadth of the Journal’s content. Every semester, editors vote on the best pieces to publish in our biannual edition of the Journal.

Recruiting

Are you interested in writing or editing for us? We accept applications for Staff Writers and Editors at the beginning of every semester. Please check this page in early September and late January to apply!

Submissions

We do, on occasion, publish external submissions from students at The Claremont Colleges and other undergraduate institutions. These papers typically come from law and policy-related courses culminating in substantial, rigorous research papers. Most of the pieces we publish are between 3,000 and 5,000 words, excluding citations. We expect these submissions to conform to our publishing guidelines, including the use of Bluebook citations, a standard across the legal industry.

If you’re interested in publishing a piece with us, please reach out to info.5clpp@gmail.com and provide your name, undergraduate institution, a short description of your piece, and a full copy of your piece.
